What is a speech pathologist?Speech pathologists diagnose and provide therapy for communication disorders, including difficulties with speaking, listening, understanding language, reading, stuttering and voice. Speech pathologists support people who experience barriers to communication due to neurological differences that can affect speech and language. These can include: developmental delays, stroke, brain injuries, learning disability, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, dementia, hearing loss, autism, and more. Speech Pathologists can also help people who experience difficulties swallowing food and drinks safely.

What services do you offer?We provide: Communication and swallowing assessment and intervention In-person, phone, or online consults with carers/educators/disability support workers Assessment, progress, and NDIS reports Mealtime management plans NDIS support letters (to advocate for funding, change in circumstances, etc.) Liaising and meetings with other professionals in you or your child's team (e.g., Occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, psychologists, teachers, etc.) AAC device assessment, recommendation, programming and implementation Assistive technology funding applications and written evidence for NDIA Resource development and creating custom visuals Home programs

Do I need a referral?No, you do not need a referral to access Ripple Healthcare. Please remember, if you are receiving a rebate for speech pathology services with Medicare under a Chronic Disease Management plan (CDM), we will require a referral form from your GP in order for you to claim your rebate.

How much does it cost?While we strive to make our services as accessible as possible, funding decisions are made by the NDIS. If you're uncertain about your funding status, please email us and we'll guide you on how to find the information you need.

Where are you based?We are based in Shellharbour but service the entire Illawarra Shoalhaven region.

Do you travel?Absolutely! We believe location should never be a barrier. Our goal is to be accessible to those who need us most and support individuals within our wider community. We’re happy to arrange appointments at home, school, in the community, or at any of your support facilities.
